Flexible Itinerary Options
Option 1: The 1-Day Valley Escape (Express)
- 08:30: Departure from Imlil. We begin with a steady climb
towards Tizi Mzik (2,500m).
- 11:00: Reach the pass for panoramic views of the Imlil and
Azzaden Valleys.
- 13:00: Descend into the "Red Valley" for a traditional
lunch in a local Berber house in Tizi Oussem.
- 14:30: Explore the terraced fields and ancient walnut
groves of Id Issa village.
- 17:00: Return trek to Imlil via the same pass or transport
back.
Best for: Hikers with limited time who
want the most scenic views of High Atlas.
Option 2: 2-Day Tamsoult Waterfalls & High
Passes
- Day 1: Trek from Imlil over Tizi Mzik pass. Afternoon hike
to the Tamsoult Waterfalls (the highest in the Atlas). Overnight in the
Tamsoult Refuge or a local gîte in Tizi Oussem.
- Day 2: After breakfast, we head further down the valley to
the village of Ait Aissa. Return to Imlil crossing the Tizi Oudite pass
(2,200m) offering 360-degree views.
Best for: Nature lovers who want to see
the spectacular cascades and experience a night in a mountain village.
Option 3: 3-Day Villages & Cultural Immersion
- Day 1: Start from Imlil, trek along the valley floor to the
village of Aguersioual, then climb towards Tizi Oudite. Overnight in Matat
village.
- Day 2: Deep trek into the Azzaden Valley. Visit multiple
Berber villages (Id Issa, Tizi Oussem). Learn about local agriculture and
stay with a local family.
- Day 3: Morning visit to Tamsoult waterfalls followed by a
climb to Tizi Mzik pass for a grand finale descent back to Imlil.
Best for: Those seeking a slow-paced,
authentic cultural connection with the local Berber people.
Option 4: 4-Day Grand Azzaden Discovery Loop
- Day 1: Trek from Imlil to the remote village of Ghoummat.
Experience the untouched side of the Atlas.
- Day 2: Cross the high ridges to enter Azzaden Valley from
the north. Descend into the lush groves of Ait Aissa.
- Day 3: Full day exploring the Tamsoult region, including
the waterfalls and the higher sheep folds (Azibs) where nomads stay.
- Day 4: Sunrise hike to a viewpoint overlooking the Ait
Mizane Valley, followed by a descent into Imlil for lunch and departure.
Included: Full porter/mule support, all
meals prepared by our cook, and stays in the most authentic family guest houses.
